Construction of Boca del Cerro Bridge concludes
On December 4, 2023, Section 1 of the Tren Maya was completed with the placement of the final structure of the Boca del Cerro Bridge. This bridge spans 160 meters to cross one of Mexico’s largest rivers, the Usumacinta River. Achieving such distances between two support points can be challenging to maintain stability and breaks away from previous knowledge paradigms, showcasing strong structural calculations and the integration of new technologies. For us at RECAL, it is a source of pride to have participated in the manufacturing, coating, assembly, and installation of the 21 segments, totaling 1,460 tons, that comprised this project. The total manufacturing time for the structure was 9 months. The assembly and installation time for the bridge structure took only 6 weeks, setting a record for a project of this nature.
